On 17 April 1912, Victor Franz Hess was forced to make an emergency landing with his gas balloon in the Waldviertel region. In memory of this event, a memorial stone was unveiled on 5 October 2025 at the site of his emergency landing.

The Schuster History of Physics Prize is awarded for exceptional achievements in advancing knowledge in the history of physics and for improving our understanding of physicsl concepts.

The physics building at Universitätsplatz 5 was added to the ‘Historic Sites’ of the European Physical Society as number 75 on 7 June 2024. And this just in the 180th year of the birth of the University of Graz researcher Ludwig Boltzmann.
