Content<\/strong><\/td>He writes that Dr. Miner (chief chemist of the US-Welsbach Company) has asked him to fulfil a special task: One should find out discreetly if Auer or Haitinger (director of the \u201cWelsbach-Williams Ltd.\u201d In Atzgersdorf\/Vienna and later of the \u201c\u00d6sterreichische Gasgl\u00fchlicht-AG) need financial help after the difficult post-war period. The subsidiary Welsbach Company (in the U.S.) wants to reward them with money as a special thanks for their accomplishments. Hess needs Meyers help in this special case.
Hess writes that there is not much interest for the Hasenoehrl badge for which donations are requested to finance it (possibly also from the Welsbach Company).
He mentions that he will give a talk in Baltimore at the Assembly of the American Electrochemical Society on \u201cA new method of determining the Radium content of Carnotite Ores and other products of low activity.\u201d
Hess reports that he is working on an emanation apparatus with Dr Leman, and that he should give a talk about Emanation in Virginia. In May 21 he will attend the Congress of the Radium Society in St. Louis, Missouri.
He states that he is overworked and misses his home.
He wishes that Meyer is in good health and asks him about cigarette prices at home. Finally, he asks about the private docents Ettenreich and Constantinovsky.<\/td><\/tr>
